Description | : | Whew! Well, after a month of observing and photographing these juvenile Peregrine Falcons (Falco peregrinus), we were rewarded with a few frames of a kill. One of the adults had dropped off a pigeon to youngster Nellie. She took her dinner to a bridge pylon, but the pigeon escaped her talons and dropped to the ground. Nellie took off like a rocket after the pigeon, trapping it under the bridge. A few photographers raced to capture the scene. Nellie then amazed us all by flying, with the pigeon, right toward us. She sat on the pigeon for a minute or so, giving us a good look, before flying off to enjoy dinner. Notice that Nellie has been picking at one of the bands on her leg.
