Description | : | This was our closest encounter ever with a Red-Tailed Hawk (Buteo jamaicensis). We were en route to our local patch when we spotted him in a tree across a road. Getting out of the car, we fired off a quick few frames (that's usually all these birds allow before flying off). He let us get close, then flew off in search of food. To our surprise and delight, he landed close by to eat lunch, then sat for a few more pictures before leaving again.
