Description | : | It always pays to keep your eye on the subject you're photographing. We came across this immature Black-crowned Night Heron (Nycticorax nycticorax) on an evening outing at our local patch. The Sigmonster was aimed at the bird, but Jim got talking to a fellow birder and had turned his back on the bird. Luckily, Tania spotted the heron beginning to move (herons are known for standing still for long periods) and started shooting. Tania managed to capture the only activity shown by this bird over two hours.
