Description | : | We had seen reports that a Tricolored Heron (Egretta tricolor) had been spotted on the Niagara River above the Falls. This heron, formerly known as the Louisiana Heron, is listed as a "rare" visitor to Ontario, so we couldn't miss this opportunity, even though we had photographed the species in Florida. Our early morning trip to Niagara was well worth it. The heron made several appearances at the same location, gorging itself on small fish, and giving us a great photo op.
