Description | : | A speeding Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus) keeps an eye on the skies above as he hunts for food. Estero Bay Aquatic Preserve, Florida.
*NOTE: Several months after Tania captured this outstanding image, Jim was invited to the banding of Peregrine Falcon chicks by the Canadian Peregrine Foundation. There were three male and one female in the clutch born to a pair nesting atop an 18-storey building near Yonge and King streeets in Toronto. In honor of this amazing image, Jim named the female chick "Estero," after the bay on which the photo was taken. For more information on the Canadian Peregrine Foundation, check out peregrine-foundation.ca For another image of this falcon, key in "Rocketman" in the search box above. Original size 9x10@200dpi |
