Description | : | What a pleasant surprise when we spotted this Red-Shouldered Hawk (Buteo lineatus) devouring a snake. Driving through the Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge, we turned a corner and there he was, calmly having breakfast. We set up about 20 feet away and were allowed a few minutes of shooting time before he picked up the snake and moved to a quieter location further from the road.
